Originally conceived as an attempt to combine the early 60s pop of the Walker Brothers with Scott Walker’s later career of avant-garde experimentation, the Segues project quickly took on a life of its own. The balance of catchy choruses and improvisational verses suited the band well, and they raided the fabled “vault” to splice in interesting snippets from their vast catalogue of unreleased material, fashioning a fascinating kaleidoscopic sound collage.
